Film school - Should I Join One?

Being associated with film world many of the times i have been asked the question that should i join film school? And if yes then which is the best film school for me? To begin with i will like to answer the second question first. If you are looking for some really great film school for you then the NYU and USC are two of the best film school in the modern times and joining them can really boost up your career in film world. This two-film school gets most of their students from all over the world and it clearly shows the prominence of these two film schools. But the article here is not about which is the best film school for me? It's about should i join film schools or not? So let's get back to the topic. The answer to this question will be covering some of the major points that anyone should contemplate if he or she is considering film schools for film or cinema school education.

The very first thing that you need to know about the film schools is that they offer two major courses for the students, which are undergraduate and graduate film/cinema program. Now unlike the other schools the film school doesn't have drama camps and acting camps. If you have opted for undergraduate programs then it will teach you general liberal arts education requirement that you will need to get a bachelors degree with major specific classes in television and film. Generally the first two years of the film schools comprises of predominantly liberal arts whereas the senior and junior years has most of the concentrated classes. Though there are some programs in the film schools that starts with directly with the film related classes. If you are taking admission in USC and NYU then you will be starting with some film history leading to some sophisticated film classes in coming years.

The basic goal of both the programs at the film school is to tech the students what they want came here to learn and in doing this the film schools teaches every single technicality that has been associated with the film making from the very ancient times to till date. Depending upon your interest in the film making process you will be taken to the film workshops and camps where you will be taught about the particular stream deeply and will be shown some practical demonstrations as well. You will be taught how to act maturely on screen and make your presence felt to the audiences on the screens. The big film schools takes their students directly on the sets of films to get them the feel of the atmosphere and how stuff works on the real sets of the film.
